Job Title: Museum Assistant

APPLY NOW! This is a full-time position and requires working some weekends and holidays. Applicants MUST be returning to school in the fall and be registered on the Young Canada Works website.
Student will work directly with the Museum’s Manager in the areas of Exhibit Display, Collection Management, Research, Educational Programming and Marketing. Student will be working with the public, acting as an ambassador to the community.
This position requires previous Museum experience. Knowledge of local history and culture of the area would be an asset. Experience using Past Perfect Museum Software is an advantage.
Previous experience in working with the public, giving public presentations, and providing tours would be an asset.
A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required.
Some knowledge of French would be an asset.

This position is ideal for high school or post-secondary students working towards a career in Museum Work, tourism or hospitality, as well as those interested in education, and public programming.
Candidates must enjoy working with the public, and meeting new people and must possess excellent oral and written communication skills. A broad general knowledge of Canadian history and the community of Carleton Place and region, including attractions would be an asset.
The student will possess the ability to plan, organize and implement tasks, to multi task and problem solve. The ability to work to deadlines is essential. Excellent computer skills with competence in Word, Excel, Outlook and Publisher are necessary. Previous hospitality or museum work is an asset.
