Guided  Walking Tours

Lake Avenue West Wander:
Some of the biggest business titans in town once lived on Lake Avenue West. Join us as we wander and meet the Nichols, Dunhams, Schwerdtfegers, McArthurs and Lavallees.
Gentlemen and gamblers, lumbermen and lawyers - discover who lived in these stately homes on Lake Avenue.
Our 90 minute tour begins and ends at the Farmers Market.

The River Walk:
Explore the riverfront industries of the 1880s in this walk alongside the Mississippi River.
Woolen, flour and lumber mills all flourished here and were run by water power.
Along the way you'll learn about the men behind the mills and their families that stayed to settle in Carleton Place.
Our 90 minute tour begins and ends at the Museum.

The Mural Tour:
Carleton Place boasts a number of interesting public murals, both new and old.
Are you curious about the story behind these images?
Join us and hear how our town’s history has been depicted and kept alive by these creative outdoor paintings!
Our 90 minute tour will begin at the Roy Brown statue, beside the Mississippi river at the north end of the Central bridge.

Tickets are $10 and available at the Museum.

Cemetery Tours:
Join us and learn about the history under your feet!
These tours take place each October in St. James Anglican Cemetery and the United Cemeteries.
Museum Curator Jennifer Irwin will lead you through the gravestones and introduce you to some of our most memorable lost souls! Be ready for a few surprises along the way.... !
We offer both a daytime and nighttime 90 minute tour that ends with refreshments inside the crypt!
